Guns
Let’s start this post with a quote,
/quote
Firearms are just tools, developed by humans and for humans through centuries to accomplish various tasks. These tasks may vary, but in my opinion firearms are as legitimate for civilian purposes as anything else, and according to statistics on accidents in many countries, firearms are less dangerous than automobiles.
Of various uses of firearms, I put the self-defense as most important for civilians. Self-defense is an essential human right, and no police, no matter how well-equipped and manned it is can’t protect everyone at same time.

I think there are a couple of wrong ideas in this text. Don’t get me wrong, I like firearms, a lot. I also think everybody should at least take a training course in firearm safety and go down to a shooting range to learn how to use one safely. On the toppic of firearm-ownership, you should decide for yourself if you want to buy one. If you do buy one, please have the common sence to not keep it loaded at home, and keep it under lock at all times.
As to the worng ideas in the quoted text:
- Guns are developed for only 2 reasons, one being killing animals the other being killing and/or wounding other humans.
- A gun is not a tool, tools are used to create, you can’t use a gun to create anything, you can use it to destroy, but so can tools. Important, A GUN IS NOT A TOOL.
- Firearms are not less dangerous than automobiles. Fact is nobody cares if you use a car in public. Cops will come running if you start using a firearm in public. Hence there is a lot less opportunity to couse accidents. Yet you should always treat a gun as if it where loaded and the safety is off.
- A gun should never be considered for self defence. First of all, humans as a species have very little natural enemies. Second, most predators, capable of seriously wounding a human, will only attack if provoced or hungry. Definitly not last, most people live in urban enviroments, find another way to defend yourself.
I know not everybody will see eye to eye with me, there are these people who don’t like guns. I understand and respect that, same way as I hope they understand and respect my vision and guns. It’s important to respect a gun, a lot more can go wrong with a gun than just a bullet comming out the front without any warning.
